Johnson City, TX –The Blanco County Sesquicentennial Celebration in Johnson City will be on Saturday June 7, 2008, on and around the Courthouse Square from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Come out and join us for entertainment, music, food, games and demonstrations. The county judge has granted the B.C.150 committee permission to use both the Courthouse lawn and the vacant lot across the street on the North side of the Courthouse. The City Council will also allow us to have the city street closed for our celebration, so there will be plenty of space for everyone to participate in the festivities.
At 10:00 a Circuit Riding Preacher will open with an invocation. Followed by the reading of the proclamation of the County of Blanco and the City of Johnson City, Texas. There will be demonstrations of a working chuck wagon, horseshoeing, and split rail fence building. A special guest will be campaigning from the front porch of the Johnson City Bank and a must see exhibit from the LBJ Library in Austin will be displayed inside the bank lobby. Don't miss the music, food, history and fun. For more information call (512) 626-5224.
