OTHER NEWS:
Window Shadow Boxes: Take a look at the windows on the building across from both the Pearl and JC Bank. Warren Vilmaire and Mark Macola, with the building owner’s permission, have built a wooden box on the inside of each window, and have showcased some of Kirchman Gallery’s art work. They are lit and well designed and decorated. This process can transform an empty looking building into productive showcase space, and greatly improve the appearance of the building (and might improve sale or rental possibilities). Your turn next. Contact a building owner near you!
Mainstreet Coffee House (at Mainstreet Boutique) will move the first of the year to the small building next door, and re-open as Ivy’s Coffee House. Same ownership: Evonne & Cecil Brooks. This leaves more space at the Boutique for expanded display of clothing, jewelry, accessories, etc.
The Chamber Visitors Center is up and running, and open to the public. Stop by and meet our Visitors Assistants, and help spread the word. Consider volunteering as well.
A new brochure (with map) oriented to Johnson City area retail business has been printed and is now available at the Chamber Visitors Center and many stores throughout town. This was produced by Johnson City’s own Duane Lokken. Other promotional brochures from other sources are available there as well that you can take to your business to hand out . . . Christmas Trail, Lighting Trail, etc.
The Historic Pearl has a new web site, and has captured some of the history of the building. Take a look at www.HistoricPearl.com
Suzy Q's has a new web site with more to come after the first of the year. Take a look at www.SuzyQs.net
Have you noticed how well mowed and trimmed the triangles are at the 281/290 intersection and the 281/Spur intersection? And the entire block just north of the Courthouse? Great work! We are seeing more clean-up efforts around town and we applaud them!
Here is the skinny on the Carriage Rides:
